The Spiritual Medicine of Bluebell
The Bluebells arrive in Oregon each year during the magical week when the fruit trees bloom.
When tiny pink and white petals float on the breeze and drift down to the earth like snowflakes.

OBSERVE & RELEASE: A Guided Meditation 🍃
Being human is a lot.
And lately, it feels like the volume dial on life has been cranked up higher than ever. The unpredictability, the weight of it all—it’s real. In the hopes of offering a small moment of peace, I recorded a gentle, 5-minute meditation designed to help us observe and release our emotions with kindness and ease.
Writing Magic Flowers: Daffodil
The first version of the Daffodil chapter in Magic Flowers was written 20 years ago in my very first quarter at community college.
Five Tips For Starting Your Own Creative Writing Practice
Last week a friend asked if I had any advice for starting a creative writing practice, and here are a few of my tips.
Bloom Under the Moon
Magic Flowers oracle cards are a gorgeous addition to any ritual practice you have with the moon.

The Spiritual Medicine of Passionflower
It’s that time of year when summer swells and beckons me into a softer, slower rhythm. Like a golden lullaby inviting me to slow down, I just want to be grounded and present. To take my time and appreciate small joys.

Grandma Mary’s Irises
Last week, my dad brought over a few small, weathered family photo albums that belonged to my Grandma Mary.
To my surprise, tucked way in the back of one of them, were four precious photos of her garden.

The Magic of Murph
One year ago today at 11:11 am I took this photo of my sweet rabbit Murph sleeping in the Velvetback studio.
I had no idea it was the last photo I’d ever take of her.

The Spiritual Medicine of Kaffir Lime
The Kaffir Lime tree that one of my besties gave me last year is blooming right now. These blossoms smell like a combination of Honeysuckle and Jasmine, creating a completely intoxicating perfume that dances onto my back patio in the evening breeze.
So this week I answered her powerful call and created a Lime Blossom flower essence.
A Libra Full Moon Wedding
A dear friend asked me to create something special for their big day—bridal bouquets, a custom incense blend for their handfasting ceremony, and a few other heartfelt touches to infuse their wedding with magic and meaning.
It was truly one of the highlights of 2019. To this day, I feel so honored to have played a small part in their celebration, crafting pieces that carried intention, beauty, and the energy of the earth.

Discovering the Joy of Inherited Plants
Today I spotted this beautiful, ecstatic black Hellebore blooming outside of the studio. "Thank you to whoever planted this mega babe and took care of her before me," I thought, and in that moment I realized that I've never inherited plants before.
