Discovering the Joy of Inherited Plants
Today I spotted this beautiful, ecstatic black Hellebore blooming outside the studio.
"Thank you to whoever planted this mega babe and took care of her before me," I thought, and at that moment, I realized that I'd never inherited plants before.
I've grown plenty of babes from seed, and picked out starts from my favorite nursery. I've received plenty of plants as gifts, but until now I've never inherited a plant that someone else planted in the ground with intention, took great care to make it grow and be healthy, and then left it behind for the next person to love and look after.
What's adding to my excitement is that this Hellebore is just the beginning of what's to come over the next while. There are plants all over the studio grounds that I'm sure are going to surprise me this spring, and I'm so excited to meet them and say, "Hey, nice to meet you. I'd like to get to know you—wanna hang out?"
