Grandma Mary’s Irises

Last week, my dad brought over a few small, weathered family photo albums that belonged to my Grandma Mary.

To my surprise, tucked way in the back of one of them, were four precious photos of her garden.

While writing my book, Magic Flowers, I always wished for photos of my grandma’s garden to help me capture those special details for inspiration, especially for the chapter called “The Garden.”

Not knowing these or anything like them existed, I had to rely on my memories. But now, finding these colorful images on color film, from the ‘80s where my memories live, is such an incredible treat!

Beautiful Irises in Mary's Garden

The very first photo in the album? These Irises! My heart flew out of my chest when I saw them. If you’ve read Magic Flowers, you know why.
